Pre-Rinse Spray Valves

THE PRODUCT:

Commercial pre-rinse spray valves (CPSVs) are handheld devices used in restaurants to remove food waste before dishes go into the dishwasher.

THE STANDARD:

The current standards for CPSVs took effect in 2019. The standards define three product classes (depending on the spray force) and set maximum flow rates between 1.0 and 1.28 gallons of water per minute (gpm).

In 2022, DOE finalized a determination that amended standards for CPSVs are not needed.

KEY FACTS:

DOE estimates that the annual shipments of CPSVs will be about 243,000 in 2027. The average lifetime of a CPSV is about 5 years.
